Douglas Municipal Court

The Douglas Municipal Court is the Judicial Branch of the governing body of the Town of Douglas.  The Court is part of the Alabama Unified Judicial System.  The Municipal Court handles all traffic citations, municipal ordinance violations and misdemeanor criminal arrests initiated by the Douglas Police Department.  Court Office Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Closed for lunch between 12:00 and 1:00.  NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND NO MESSAGES WILL BE RETURNED ON COURT DAY.  IF PAYMENT IS DUE, YOU MUST APPEAR IN COURT AND THEN MAKE YOUR PAYMENT.

COURT IS HELD ON THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH STARTING AT 2:00 P.M.

If you miss your scheduled court date, you must come to court on the next regularly scheduled court date.

The person who received the ticket must appear in person to enter a guilty plea.  No one

else can enter the plea for you.  Payment in full by cash, money order, cashier check or

credit card must be paid at the time the plea is entered.  The Clerk’s office is open Monday

through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Closed for lunch 12:00 – 1:00.

Some minor violations may be settled without making a court appearance if:

You wish to plead guilty to the charge and

You pay the ticket in full prior to your court date.

Court appearance is required if you want to make partial payment.

Not Guilty Plea:  If you wish to contest the ticket, you must appear in court on the date

indicated on your ticket.

Partial Payments are allowed.  Follow instructions to make sure payment is processed correctly.

There will be a 4.5% service fee with a minimum charge of $3.00 assessed by a third-party for all debit and credit card payments. Town of Douglas Municipal Court receives no additional revenue from this fee.
